Discovering the Curieuse Island
Seychelles Islands

In the north of Praslin Island, only one kilometre from Anse Volvert, you will have to unquestionably discover Curieuse Island, at the heart of Curieuse Marine National Park. This small Island, less than 3 km in total area, is an integral part of the Seychelles archipelago.
This protected site works mainly to protect giant tortoises but also sea turtles. Attracted by the calm of its beaches, it is one of its favourite places to lay your eggs in peace.
The Giant Turtle Farm is an exciting place to discover these strange hundred-year-old animals under their sturdy shells, which you would think were straight out of a Jurassic Park movie! The island is also protected for its characteristic vegetation: mangroves, sea cocos and numerous animal and plant species have taken up residence there.
In 1768, the island was discovered by the French explorer Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne (known as“Marion-Dufresne”), who named it after his schooner“La Curieuse”. Ideally removed from any population to avoid contagion, Curieuse Island served as leprosy from 1883 to 1965. Thanks to this particular function, the development of Seychelles will proceed without it, helping to protect the surrounding fauna and flora, when most of the surrounding islands will see their lush coasts hit by massive human destruction.
Curieuse and its neighbour, Ile Saint Pierre, can only be visited during the day because no lodgings or villages exist. A few walking paths will allow you to discover a wonderfully wild island and reconnect with the treasures of nature. Landing on the island can be in Anse Saint-José or Laraie Baie.

You will quickly succumb to the desire to walk and rest; there is time to savour this natural treasure!
If La Digue is known for its superb beaches, by arriving at the source d’Argent beach, you will understand why…The shaded path you have taken will end with breathtaking decor. You will be dazzled by the white sand and the silver rocky blocks carved by time and water. You would think they were artificial. The beach is, on one side, caressed by crystalline, warm water and, on the other side, bordered by luxuriant vegetation. This beach is isolated from the rest of the world at the end of the island.
The magic is unceasing, thanks to the daily cycles of the tides and the sun. While at low tide, the rocks are almost entirely uncovered, at high tide, they are surrounded by water, some even giving the impression of floating. However, the magic appears with the sun’s movements, which, at sunset and sunrise, tint the rocks in pink, which then pass through different colours.
Anse Source d’Argent is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world among the top 5. You who discover it, lulled by the lapping waves, the rustling of coconut leaves, and the whistling of birds, will have a real glimpse of paradise.

If your adventure has made you hungry, you will enjoy fresh fruit and fruit juices sold on the beach by someSeychellois; then you will ride the bike that will take you, in 1 or 2 minutes, to the grilled fish of the straw hut, with your feet in the sand.
